What is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback, also known as cognitive rehabilitation or EEG biofeedback, is a ground-breaking technique that challenges the brain to function better.

This powerful brain-based technique has been successfully helping clients around the world for more than 40 years. It is a noninvasive process with dramatic results for a multitude of symptoms. The effectiveness of neurofeedback for adults and children with a wide variety of symptoms has been repeatedly concluded in numerous research studies.

How Neurofeedback Works

Neurofeedback works by training the brain to function at its maximum potential, which is similar to the way the body is exercised, toned and maintained. The technology is safe and effective for children and adults ages 5 to 95.

“Train your attention, decrease anxiety or depression, alleviate chronic pain, lessen behaviors that interfere with living your best life,” says Dr. Connie McReynolds, who established the neurofeedback service in 2011.

Is Your Child Struggling to Learn in School?

ADHD affects more than 20% of school-aged children.  Neurofeedback and medication are two common forms of treatment for ADHD/ADD.  While the use of medication diminishes the symptoms of ADHD in some children, neurofeedback addresses the underlying causes for the behaviors.  Therefore, there are significant differences in the ways these treatments work, the potential side effects of their use, the length of treatment necessary, and the onging cost of the intervention. In addition, neurofeedback helps children learn to better self-regulate their behaviors.

Effectively Treating ADHD/ADD

For children who are struggling in school, effectively treating ADHD/ADD is an urgent crisis that is having a daily effect in the classroom. The current school-based interventions are simply ineffective in meeting the needs of some of these children. Traditional interventions are not solving the problems, they are expensive to implement and are not treating the underlying brain problems. Through the steady growth and expansion of the evidence-based, data-driven EEG biofeedback program (i.e., neurofeedback), many children are experiencing an improved quality of life in ways they never imagined possible. To see a child who has been failing in school become a success simply cannot be overstated. The profound impact on the family, their financial resources, and the long-term well-being of the child also cannot be overstated. Neurofeedback gives these children and their families a fighting chance and helps to restore hope (McReynolds, Villalpando & Britt, 2018; McReynolds, Britt & Villalpando, 2019).

Effectively Treating Trauma & PTSD

Military trauma is no small problem. To see the relief of a veteran who has been struggling with the aftermath of service-connected disabling post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) be able to once again enjoy life, to see families reconnecting, and to witness the transformation in peoples’ lives also cannot be overstated. These veterans continue to relive traumatic war experiences every day. Many communities are filled with veterans from current and previous wars who continually live with the consequences of trauma. The current cost of traditional treatment is simply overwhelming to society, and for many has limited effectiveness. We have demonstrated neurofeedback to be an efficacious and cost-effective intervention with documented evidence in reducing or eliminating the trauma of war and improving lives (McReynolds, Bell & Lincourt, 2017).

Neurofeedback Is Improving Brain Health, Naturally

Because we now have better scientific information about how the brain functions continually changes throughout our lifetime, we can better understand how neurofeedback works to help the brain change.

What is Neuroplasticity?

The brain has the ability to continually change throughout life. By understanding that we can change our brain through the use of neurofeedback, we now know that we can improve many conditions that have limited children and adults preventing them from living their best life.  This is neuroplasticity.  For more information , view this TED Talk presentation by Dr. Joe Dispenza explaining the neuroscience of brain training. – Dr. Joe TED Talk

The Bottom Line

This alternative therapy for children and adults is a game changer. Our assessments provide answers where none have been available and our interventions generate a directional change in the lives of people, some of whom have been in despair. To see the light turn on in the eyes of a child, a veteran, or others who have been struggling, is nothing short of profoundly inspiring and life affirming.
